It's Not Oz Yet If You Haven't Seen A Kangaroo!

Hey everybody!
First of all, happy New Year, and all the best for 2007!
We've started off the New Year with lots of beautiful fireworks and live music in Melbourne city centre.
We've been in Australia now for a few weeks and have travelled around Victoria a bit.
We went to Ballarat, Halls Gap and Queenscliff before leaving for a Great Ocean Road trip.
In Halls Gap we went mountain biking (very strange being on a bike again after 2,5 months without!) and spotted our first kangaroo. We thought this was absolutely wonderful. Then we saw another one, and then about a hundred more! We've seen loads since then, and it really feels like Australia now!
On the Great Ocean Road trip we saw all the famous limestone arches and cliffs along the way, and lots more wildlife too. We went for a lunch pick nick and there were koalas and emus all around!
We got back to Melbourne for Christmas and spent the holidays with my family. I was expecting a hot summer Christmas, but it was only 16 degrees!
For my birthday on the 28th me and Mijke went out all night to celebrate. On my birthday itself we had a beach picnic, which was really cold, but fun. In the evening we went out for dinner on the top of Mount Dandenong. We got a beautiful sunset and an amazing view of the city at night time.
We went to a Australian wildlife park nearby. The park had all the Australian animals, so now I've seen every one of them!
We leave for Sydney tonight on the 15 hour night bus... not really looking forward to that. But at least we've had the longest drive then!
Better get back to packing now!

A Happy New Year!
I envy you because you are in warm Australia that the temperature is 16 degrees. Today's temperature of Japan is 5 degrees. It's is cold.My town is tourist' town, so there are many people today. I want to spend the calm day of new year someday.
I hope you will enjoy in Sydney too.I like chinese food in china town of Sydney. Taste them! -

Hoi Laura, ook jij een mooi en reislustig nieuwjaar, ik hoop dat je nog steeds volop geniet!
Sjoerd, Wouter, Jaap en Tamara (vriendin van Sjoerd) hebben de jaarwisseling op Gran Canaria gevierd, daar eten zij bij elke klokslag een druif, wat geluk en voorspoed schijnt te brengen
